How do you prepare for a photo session so that the day of the shoot goes without stress? Below I have gathered everything worth knowing — from the week before the session, through the day of the shoot itself, to what you can expect in the studio. This guide applies to maternity sessions as well as newborn and family sessions.
How to prepare for a photo session: a week before
Book your make-up and hair — this can be done on site at the studio, so you do not waste time travelling and you start the session relaxed.

Skip any new beauty treatments and self-tanners. Skin looks more natural two–three days after a treatment than right after it.
If you are planning a family session, choose your outfits together and try them on in advance — it saves a lot of nerves on the day. If you do not have an idea for your styling yet, take a look at my guide on what to wear for a session or look for inspiration on Pinterest.
On the day of the session
Arrive 10–15 minutes early. This margin lets you look around, have a cup of tea and get changed calmly. There is a convenient parking space right by the studio entrance, so you do not have to look for parking at the last minute.

Bring snacks and your child’s favourite toy. Children do best when they are well fed and feel safe. If this is your first session, it is completely normal to feel nervous — most people relax quickly as soon as we start taking the first photos.
You do not need to bring maternity gowns or newborn outfits — the studio wardrobe is included in the session price, in sizes S–XXL.
What to expect in the studio
A maternity session takes about 90 minutes, a newborn session up to three hours, because everything follows the baby’s rhythm: with breaks for feeding and cuddles.

You do not need to know how to pose. I guide you through every move, and most shots happen in between the set-up poses.
After the session you receive access to an online gallery with selected photos within about two weeks, and I retouch the chosen shots by hand, keeping the result natural.
Summary: how to prepare for a photo session
The most important thing is to arrive well rested, plan your outfit in advance and not worry about the rest — I will take care of that. If you have any further questions before the session, write to me — I am happy to advise based on your particular situation.
