Are you the head of a preschool or a member of the Parents’ Council, wondering how to organise a professional photo session for your preschool? This guide is for you. For 12 years I have been running preschool sessions in Warsaw and the surrounding area. I have gathered here everything worth knowing before you choose a photographer for your group.

Why is it worth organising a preschool session?
For parents it is hugely convenient — they do not need to travel anywhere, sign up with a separate studio or take a day off. The photos are taken in a place the child knows, among friends, which also helps the little ones feel at ease. For the preschool, in turn, it is a consistent, professional keepsake of the whole group — from individual portraits to a group photo with the teachers.
What does organising a preschool session involve?
- Getting in touch and setting a date — you write to me with a proposed date, and together we find a date that suits the preschool.
- Agreeing the scope of the session — individual portraits, group photos, and possibly a class photo board (tablo) or a calendar for the end of the year.
- The day of the session — I come to the preschool with everything that is needed: the set, props and lighting. Sessions usually take place in the morning, when the children are most rested.
- Receiving the finished photos — parents get access to an online gallery, where they can order prints, albums, calendars or a tablo.

What does a preschool session include?
As standard, it includes individual portraits of each child and a group photo of the whole class together with their teachers. It is a keepsake that both parents and grandparents will appreciate. Depending on the season, I also prepare seasonal sets (for example spring, autumn or Christmas), and for the end of the school year — an elegant tablo or a group chronicle.

What should you look for when choosing a photographer for your preschool?
The most important thing is experience in working with groups of children. Smoothly organising a session with a dozen or several dozen little ones requires a completely different approach from individual photos. It is also worth asking how long the photos take to prepare and which formats are available — prints, albums, calendars, tablo. It is a good idea, too, to check whether the photographer already has experience with your particular preschool or in similar conditions.
