My own maternity session in the beautiful Pieniny scenery. See more photos.
They say the cobbler’s children go without shoes, but no… not me 🙂 Even though I have probably done thousands of maternity sessions by now, this was my very first maternity session of my own. When I was expecting my two little boys, bump photo sessions were not in fashion yet, no friend suggested the idea, and from my two previous pregnancies I only have a few handheld snaps, in a lift 🙂 and a few quick ones from holidays.
I’ll be honest with you: I really envied my clients their photos. Being captured in this special time, the focus on them and their emotions. Hugging their pregnancy bump in photos they could later show their children while telling them about waiting for them.
Session by Lake Czorsztyn
My session naturally fell during our holiday in the Pieniny Mountains, by beautiful Lake Czorsztyn. The mountains, the water and the beautiful sunsets over the lake created ideal conditions for my photos.

The photos were taken by my husband, a strategist by day but a hobby photographer of model cars. For a change, he had a living subject to photograph — doubly living, in fact 🙂
Photos in the Slovak Tatras
We stopped on the Slovak side of the Tatras on our way back from a hike. The maternity photos with the mountains in the background turned out nicely, despite the lack of a suitable outfit 🙂 Here in a simple black maternity dress.

Sunset session by the water
A maternity session at sunset, wading gently into the lake. The photo was taken during the golden hour, in this case around 7 pm, when the sun was already sinking towards the horizon. Almost overexposed in the original, it needed a bit of extra work in Photoshop to bring the figure out of the luminous glow.

I have always loved outdoor photos in the water; they require certain sacrifices 🙂 A longer moment of preparation and setting up the light before we stand in the water in all our glory and the dress soaks up the water.

And here is my maternity photographer. This time our older son Patryk stood on the other side of the lens. After all, our little daughter will want to see not only mummy with her bump but daddy too 🙂

Session in a meadow
The last photos from this part of the session were taken in a beautiful meadow. I was looking for fields of grain for my maternity session, but we didn’t find a convenient location, and this one was stunning enough.
This time I was equipped with a maternity dress from my studio and a flower crown from my favourite florist, Handmadebyencza. LOVE
