What could be sweeter than newborn babies? Than their sweet little hands and tiny toes? Than their yawning little mouths and sleepy smiles?
What could be sweeter than newborn babies? Than their sweet little hands and tiny toes? Than their yawning little mouths and sleepy smiles?
Perhaps only the very same features in newborn kittens!
Following global trends, I decided to add newborn sessions for kittens to my offer. Across the ocean they are already very popular; kitten newborn sessions are a well-established trend. Cats rule YouTube, outdoing even Justin Timberlake’s latest music videos in popularity.
Photo sessions for newborn kittens follow rules similar to those for babies. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about sessions with kittens:
When should it take place?
I do kitten newborn sessions up to the kitten’s 2nd month of life. Unlike human babies, they stay pliable for much longer, and they are sleepy pretty much all their lives. At this age their fur is at its fluffiest and softest, and being wrapped in wraps and settled on soft fabrics feels completely natural to them. They feel as if they were back in their mum’s tummy.
What a kitten newborn session looks like and how to prepare for it
Kitten photos usually take about 1.5 hours. During that time I create 3 to 4 different set-ups, using accessories certified for use with the smallest pets. The colour scheme and choice of accessories are agreed with the “parents” before the session. We take photos both while the kitten is asleep and with its eyes open, to fully capture its beauty and character.
I provide all the accessories needed for the session. Certified and disinfected after every use. The parents only need to bring a supply of milk for the kitten, a favourite blanket, a toy to keep it entertained during the photos and hygiene products for “changing”.
Is the session safe for the kitten?
Of course, safety is the top priority in newborn sessions. Drawing on my experience with baby sessions, I make sure kittens are handled gently and safely. The course of the session is set by each kitten’s mood and individual activity, so both the kitten and the parents should feel comfortable.
Is it possible to take family photos or photos with siblings?
Family photos are an important part. They are a wonderful keepsake for the whole family, so we cannot do without them. Group photos are taken at any point during the session, for example when the kitten needs a cuddle.
How long do I have to wait for the finished photos?
During each session I take approx. 100-150 photos, from which the parents choose 16 or 24 retouched shots. You can also order photo albums, large-format prints or canvas prints. I need approx. 2 weeks for editing.
How much does a kitten newborn session cost?
The session costs are the same as for a newborn session for babies; you can find them in the Offer section.
When should I book the session?
It is best to book the session a month before the planned date. We will then choose a convenient date that fits in with the kitten’s daily rhythm.
You are warmly invited to book a session for your little one. A photo session is not only a beautiful keepsake but also good fun for the little one and the parents.
