Newborn session set-ups can vary a great deal — see what you can expect at your own session.
Every newborn baby is different, every one is unique. Parents wait for them with all sorts of dreams and plans, standing on the threshold of a new life with a child by their side.
I have the pleasure of meeting them at this special moment in their lives. That is why I so enjoy offering them different options in my little patch of newborn sessions. Come and see the choices I give brand-new parents.
In my newborn photo gallery you will find lots of photos. In this post I wanted to divide them into categories to make it easier for you to plan your own session.
Natural newborn sessions
The simplest ones, where nothing draws attention away from the baby. We play with a delicate backdrop and fabrics for wrapping the little one. The photos are natural, and so are the baby’s poses. This is probably the most timeless style of photo, one that will never go out of fashion.
In the version for girls I sometimes cannot resist a tiny headband to show off her beauty 🙂
Newborn photos with the parents are a must at every one of my sessions. I take them whichever package you choose, because I believe they are a wonderful keepsake for the child. They will have a thousand photos before they are a month old, but how many with both parents? With a following wind, maybe a few 🙂
Rustic newborn photos
When preparing set-ups for rustic photos, I use natural wood, plants and materials with a traditional feel — evoking idyllic country life. I draw inspiration for these photos from my travels and holidays in the countryside. I always come home with some vintage piece that works perfectly in baby photography. The best examples of this category are photos on old boards, nests made of natural twigs and little beds made of old planks. Sentimental 🙂
Girly – floral newborn sessions
Flowers, lace, headbands, rose petals. This is by far the largest category in my newborn photographer portfolio. I love photos among flowers, lace outfits, delicate wraps, everything that brings out the natural beauty of newborn girls. I am a mum of two boys myself, so I take enormous pleasure in choosing delicate fabrics, sewing little outfits and playing with flowers. It is a nice change from the hard, noisy toy cars I have at home every day 🙂 Below are a few examples of newborn photos among flowers:
Teddy-bear newborn sessions
Teddy bears are probably the only costumes I offer my youngest models. You will not find little lions, puppies, kittens or other more or less furry creatures here — only teddy bears 🙂 I find them timeless and sweet, a symbol of childhood. That is why my family of mini teddies, which I put to sleep alongside the babies, keeps growing. Meet some of my teddies with the sweetest models:
Artistic newborn photos
One shot, a beautiful form. I love photos of babies like these. They are perfect as a canvas print for a child’s room or the living room. One of a kind and special.
Fur newborn sessions
Photos of babies on fur are almost a must at my photo sessions. They are very comfortable for the little ones, lovely and warm, and bring out their natural sweetness. Here you will find natural sheepskin in a wonderful creamy colour with very soft fleece, as well as several colours of Italian flokati, in which babies sink as if into down. On top of that there are other colourful furs to make every parent’s colourful dreams come true. We most often start the session on the furs. Such a comfortable position, often combined with a wrap, lets the baby get used to the new surroundings. It also lets me get a feel for their young temperament and take the first sweet photos. Like these:
Fur set-ups are also ideal for involving siblings in the photos. Little ones of a few years old love jumping onto my newborn posing pillow… and jumping off it, and jumping back on 🙂
Photos in nature
Photos which, despite the name, I create in the comfort of home, on cloudy days, when my imagination runs away with me 🙂
As you can see, I have no shortage of ideas for newborn sessions. In my Warsaw studio I already have a very sizeable collection of furs, fabrics and wraps in every colour of the rainbow. Then there are sweet little outfits for girls and boys. But that is only the basis for the photos 🙂
As I sat down to look through my portfolio so far, I could go on creating new categories of photos for a long time. I find it hard even to say which ones I like best — the truth is that beauty lies in variety. I enjoy exploring that variety, constantly looking for new accessories, fabrics and little containers.
I hope this overview of newborn session set-ups helps you find inspiration.
I am not sure whether I have made your choice easier or harder. Photo sessions with me are tailor-made, so we can choose from each of these loose categories. Please also remember that your little one may not like every accessory we have planned. Our babies, just a few days old, often already have opinions of their own, and they will show us what they like and what they feel good in 🙂
