A first birthday session for a boy is a chance to capture your child’s first, special year of life in photos. Below is a gallery from one such session 🙂
First birthday session for a boy — what this session was like
A first birthday session is a great opportunity to capture your child’s first year of life. The photos in this gallery show an intimate session in my Warsaw studio, in a warm, natural set-up suited to a boyish feel. I go for muted colours — beiges, blues and greys. Add to that simple, comfortable clothes in which a one-year-old boy feels at ease and can move around freely.
Photo sessions for children around one year old usually last from 1 to 1.5 hours. It is a time of very intensive work, because little legs can already crawl confidently, and sometimes even walk. That is why I run the session at the pace of play, close to the floor, with plenty of breaks whenever the child needs them.

Outfits for a boy’s first birthday session
In the studio a collection of simple boys’ clothes is waiting — shirts, braces and bow ties. I also have wooden toys that work wonderfully as props. We can also use the number “1” as a balloon or a wooden figure to clearly mark this special moment in the photos. If you have a favourite theme — for example cars, animals or space — I am happy to match the set to it. We can also use my colourful cots and baskets, in which a one-year-old boy looks great.
Plan a first birthday session for your boy
The best time for a boy’s first birthday session is between 11 and 13 months of age. At that point the child sits up unaided and starts to crawl, which gives the liveliest, most natural shots. Parents and siblings can also join the session if you would like a keepsake of the whole family from this special stage.
